50 Easy ways to boost your online shop in 5 minutes or Less!

December 12, 2017Asmaa' Murad

During my first 2 years of doing business online and running a shop online, I was creating. I was a creating machine, I created product after product and then another product. I had 2 shops, AiFactory for my illustrations and clipart and Print Me a Party for my invitation design. Both were on Etsy and I just had to create content and products. Like me there are many artists and creators out there who wake up to create content.

Everyday! Create a new product in hope to sell. Getting in front of the computer everyday, oh I will share this on facebook, Oh i’ll tweet about it, I’ll pin it to my group board and so on and so forth. That is my friend called a daily grind where you dont know where you are going. You must have a Goal and a plan for your products and your shops in place and following this plan all these traffic driving tools should be used to move you forward towards your goal. Now I move forward with a plan and a goal in hand, for this purpose I use my Goal Planner Workbook for creatives and without fail I have been seeing incremental increase in my sales.

But fast forward now If there was ONE advice I could give that would be to create and promote on a 1:1 ratio. The time that you spend creating new content, must be on a direct ration to the time that you spend promoting it .

Questions is where to promote content, there are multiple ways of promoting your content some are paid and some are free. Fact is when I was using free tools to promote content, my sales growth was pretty slow.

That could be the preferred way for many, considering that they are just creating products for their shop for the sake of creating.

But!, if you are here in the online selling game for the sake of earning and increasing those earnings, earning for the sake of financially supporting your family as well then you must also consider spending some money into promotion.

But thats talk for another day, today I would ilke to share with you 50 ways you can promote your shop for free !. And if you do at least 5 of these tasks everyday, i can guarantee that you will have some sales rolling in. But the key is consistency. You may want to choose a few of these and then concentrate on those for a month. See hte results ditch the tasks that are not bringing in any results and choose a few more.

So what are those 50 tasks, here you go!

  1. Pinterest : Find your most popular product repin throughout the week
Pinterest can work in your favor once you show consistency in pinning. But beware that you are not pinning your products all the time!. Create 5-6 boards of interest for your ideal audience and then one board for your products. Use tools like boardbooster to loop the pins. Or use tailwind to schedule your posts.
  2. Pinterest : Create 2-3 pins for each product
  3. Pinterest Create 1-3 Pinnable long images for your most popular posts
  4. Website improvement: Find your most visited page of the blog and embed your newsletter signup form to it.
Use mailchimp or mailerlite to create either your optins that entices your visitor to signup to your newsletter or just a reminder to get updates and latest from your website.
  5. Pinterest : Pin your pins to various group boards
Use pinterest analytics to find out which pins are getting more attention and re-pin and distribute these pins to various group boards.
  1. Pinterest Feed your tailwind to autopost your pins to different group boards, I have created a list of boards that I use once and tailwind delivers my latest pin periodically on scheduled time to various group boards on autopilot.
  2. Pinterest Feed your boardbooster to loop pins from your popular boards. This will ensure that your pins are again distrubuted to your boards. Once a month it is best to go checkout your boards and delete pins which are not popular. This will help you declutter your boards.
  3. Pinterest Scroll through pinterest for inspiration and new ideas
  4. Time management: Create a new Trello board to record your new ideas add images to support that idea.
  5. Time management: Give a deadlines to your top 3 ideas
Ideas might stay in your brain floating around waiting for start or completion. Once a deadline is give to them chances are they might see the day light of completion.
  6. Facebook : Review already joined FB group and purge a few
I always find myself ending up joining tons of facebook groups. If you plan to get more traction from facebook then concentrating on a very few is a good thing to do.
  7. Facebook :Post an engagement post to facebook page
  8. Facebook :Interact and give value in facebook groups
  9. Facebook :Create a poll in your facebook group or page
  10. Facebook :Post your product in groups on promo days

  13. For Etsy shop:Review and update your etsy banner & Avatar to match latest event and promo if any
  14. For Etsy shop:Research keyword for new etsy listing
Do not try to re-keyword your listing on etsy every few days. You must give your listing at least a month after you have added new keywords to it for the keywords to take effect.
  15. For Etsy shop:Post a new Etsy update
I like the latest feature in etsy app, it not only lets you post and update but also makes it easier for you to share your content over various social media platforms.
  16. For Etsy shop:Use Etsy on sale to re-list one random product per day
  17. For Etsy shop:Use Etsy on sale to re-list one popular product per day
  18. For Etsy shop:Use marmalead and upgrade your least visited product with keyword research
  19. For Etsy shop:Stumble, Digg or share on social media your latest listings
  20. Time management:Brainstorm idea for coming post
I like to use Brain dump pages from my Goal planner this helps me get the ideas out then I usually speed write them in one go!
This helps me create a mind map various ideas around a single topic, these topics may include, who, what, when and why around a single subject and then batch write all of these posts.
  21. Website updates: Brainstorm idea for optin for each post if required
  22. Website updates:Remember to link your new post to your optin and then to your low priced product or offer
  23. Website updates:Review your optins and make them valuable.
  24. Newsletter : Draft an email to your list subscribers
  25. Newsletter :Send an email list to your subscribers that holds value for them.
  26. Newsletter :Make your email list subscribers feel special with special offer.
  27. Outreach: submit a guest post idea or connect with a similar website
  28. Improve SEO, Pinterest image or text of one of your blog posts.
  29. Talk about how your product solves a problem
  30. Outreach:Reach out to other shop owners for a possible collaboration
  31. Outreach:E-mail local magazine asking them to feature your product
  32. Outreach:Share influencer’s in your industry’s content and comment on their posts on social.
  33. Outreach:Join a forum or create a mastermind in your own niche.
  34. Self improvement: Give yourself some time enjoy coffee.
  35. Self improvement:Walk bare feet on the grass or hug a tree.
  36. Self improvement:Smile in front of mirror
  37. Self improvement:Send gratitude to 3 people you know
  38. Self improvement:Send gratitude for 3 things that you love about yourself
  39. Self improvement:Send gratitude to the universe for what you have
  40. Self improvement:Send love and gratitude for what you would love to have in your life.
  41. Self improvement:Listen to a podcast
  42. Self improvement:Take bath
  43. Self improvement:Meditate
